RetroArts is now on!

From today I’m switching the download section to the famous indie game hosting platform.

This allows me to reach more people and supporters and have a central platform for updates.

EVIL DUNGEON is still for free, but you now have the option to name a price if you are willing to support me.

Thanks and stay tuned for upcomming and exciting news!

EVIL DUNGEON (WiC64-Version) released!

As of today you can also find my adventure game “Evil Dungeon” (English version) free to play in the WiC64 portal!

You find it in the “Online Games\Highscore Games II” section.

What’s different in the WiC64 version?

  • The game loads very fast!
Game data will partially loaded from my webserver and benefits from the technology of the WiC64 device. It’s a great experience!
  • Online Highscore!
If you master the dungeon, your experience points will be stored 1:1 as score in the online highscore list. There is a own highscore list for Evil Dungeon and it also counts against the “All games” highscore.
  • The gameplay and main content remains the same as in the offline version 1.1 – no changes here!

What is a WiC64?

The Wireless interface for
C64 – SX64 – C128 – VIC20

The device offers a variety of features: Online portal, chat, demos, games, apps, online multiplayer games, SID-Radio and much more…

EVIL DUNGEON (C64) Version 1.1 released!

What? A new version of EVIL DUNGEON?

Let me explain. I really like my game and there are no plans to release further versions in the future!

But there were some little things I like to see fixed/changed, for a better overall experience. Some of that is direct feedback from you! Thanks!

What about the physical copies on floppy?

There is no absolute need to use version 1.1!
If you like the game as it is, stay with it.
If you want to upgrade your version to 1.1 just download it, delete the MAIN.PRG file from the original floppy and replace it with the MAIN.PRG file from new .D64 image. If you have Ultimate or similar devices you can also mount the new image and copy the image as a whole to the floppy. You are done!

Update: All new physical shippings will include the V1.1 already!

Changelog (Version 1.1 EN/DE):

  • Changed menu: Added toggle button <F1> (YES/NO) to switch introduction on/off
  • Changed menu: Added toggle button <F2> (YES/NO) to enable/disable door sounds (for faster experience)
  • You have to hit <RETURN> in menu to start the game now!
  • Clock improvement: less and more effective code, more precise time calculation for playtime. Please don’t care about highscore times, they are not evaluated for ranking, it’s just an info.
  • Little adjustment in balancing regarding fire vials and healing potions. Prevents the game to become too easy in some cases.
  • Typo: “wodden” -> “wooden” in english version
  • Fixed translation error: ‘C’ for (c)heck in intro reacted only to ‘N’ like in german version.

Downloads have been replaced with V1.1 now!

And yes, you can still get one of the physical copies if you like. Just ping me: kontakt at

What or Who is RetroArts?

Hey people!
My name is Gregor, born 1980, living in Germany and since 2022 I’m developing games for our beloved Commodore 64.

Is RetroArts a company or a trademark?

RetroArts is just an overall name for my C64 projects and business. I’m acting as a sole proprietor.

Why coding games for a machine that is older than 40 years?

Grewing up with this machine and still having fun with it is something I’m sharing with a whole commnuity out there. Still seeing a lasting demand on content for games I decided to make my own one.

Why coding in BASIC V2 and not Assembler?

To be honest – I never learned Assembler nor am I a professional developer. But I think with a little creativity and the right concepts it’s possible to create fun games in BASIC too. And finally, I like BASIC, because it’s simple and READY_ to go!

Is there more to come?

Yes, as long as my spare time allows I’m trying to make new games. But please be patient and there will be no fixed dates preannounced.

How can I support RetroArts Projects?

You can do a lot:

  • Follow me on Facebook/Instagram and share my postings (use links right)
  • Donate a few Bits or Bytes when downloading my games on
  • Purchase the physical editions of my game projects like EVIL DUNGEON
  • Send me feedback, questions, ideas, …
  • Join communities like N3rdroom (german) on Discord

Superhirn (C64) – Released!

Before the release of “Evil Dungeon” I had some spare time to code a game that I played as a board game when I was a kid. Maybe you also remember this game aka “Mastermind” from Parker Brothers. Feel free to download as D64 image and have some fun with it.

How to play?

You have 10 rounds to guess a code of four colors.

After you put in your guess confirm with <RETURN> button which will give you a result:

White circle(s): one or more right colors on the right positions.
Black circle(s): one or more right colors, but on wrong positions.
No circle(s): wrong colors

The order of the circles in the evaluation row does not refer to the position of the pins in the code row but is always from left to right!

Can you hack the code?

Welcome to RetroArts!

My name is Gregor Schillinger, born in 1980 and since the age of nine I’m an owner of a C64.

In summer 2022 I had the idea for creating a game for my lovely “Breadbin”. The project made me a lot of fun through the last months. Therefore I decided to continue develop for the C64 and I already have some more follow-up ideas. For this reason I decided to put this all together and publish under the name “RetroArts”.

My first game “Evil Dungeon” will be released early 2023.

I hope people have fun with my games and I’m looking forward to get some feedback from you!
